Why We Wrote This Book
Executives in today’s business environment have never been busier. Time constraints are ever present. Resources are strained. Strategic Planning constantly competes with the tactical demands of running an organization and to make matters worse, most organizational leaders have no idea how to go about it. They have plenty of knowledge and information about their organization, but no effective tools to analyze their thoughts and to create a long-term plan of action.
In Performance-Based Strategy, my co-author and I offer a practical set of productive strategy tools for the time- and resource-constrained. They reduce today’s leading business approaches into a user-friendly set of tools aimed at simple, successful real-world execution. These techniques can be used collectively to develop a comprehensive strategic plan, or individually across the spectrum of specific strategy questions.
The tools offered here have been used in small, medium, and Fortune 500 companies, with for-profit and not-for-profit organizations, and across a breadth of industries such as manufacturing, health care, banking, distribution, transportation, government, and charity. We have used and applied these tools over time as insiders to turn companies around, and as outsiders in advisory and Board roles.
When properly applied, these techniques enable leaders to see their situations and organizations in new ways. The MBA/EMBA student gains insight into effective implementation of their advanced learning, and the entrepreneur/organization leader reaps the benefits of the proven theoretical business concepts embedded into each tool structure. Above all – these tools allow leaders – regardless of their background – to quickly and positively impact their organization’s performance.
